Forks
Spot has purpose-designed our lightweight carbon cyclo-cross fork with many thoughtful details that include ample tire clearance, quick handling and versatile use with or without fenders. Direct post mount for disc brake caliper eliminates the added weight and fuss of an ISO adapter. Also notable, is an offset axle slot, which considers disc brake wind-up and prevents wheel release, if not secured tightly. Discrete threaded fender stay mount. 1 1/8" alloy steerer. 400mm crown-to-axle. 45mm rake.

I replaced the stock steel fork on my Salsa Vaya with a Spot carbon fork. This is my gravel/road/whatever else bike. I’ve been looking for a carbon fork that gets close to the stock geometry and still has room for at least a 29×1.75 tire, and the Spot fork seems like a perfect match. JUST enough room to run a fat tire, and the handling feels pretty close to what I had with the stock fork; maybe a little more responsive.
As far as ride quality, it’s a night-and-day difference between this and stock. Over rough gravel and washboard roads, the stock steel fork/frame combo would set up a weird oscillation that would eat forward momentum. The Spot carbon fork/steel frame combo is so much smoother – rolling over washboards at speed would feel perfectly smooth out front, with just a small amount of shock transferred through the rear. The carbon just eats whatever nastiness the road throws at it.
